Blind Pimple
69What Is A Blind Pimple?
Pimples are generally caused by swelling of the skin as a result of skin pores getting clogged either due to dust or hormonal changes in the body. The basic difference between a pimple and a blind pimple is that these do not have a head whereas a pimple has a colored head. In a majority of cases blind pimples simply appear like a swelling.
The basis cause of these types of pimples is not clearly understood yet. The generally understood reason is that it results on account of the imbalance in the body caused by hormones. The changes in the hormonal balances cause the sebaceous glands to secrete more oily matter leading these glands to increase in size. This results in swollen bumps and if these bumps are without a head, they are called blind pimples.
It is a normal tendency to be tempted either to squeeze or poke a pimple. One should, as a rule, avoid using pointed articles like pins, needles etc. to drain the pimple contents. By using a pointed object, one will increase the risk of getting an infection. It may also result in a scar or damage to the skin. It is advised to allow the blind pimple to form an outlet in the normal course. One can take precautions to hasten the creation of an outlet.
One can ensure that a hot compress is done regularly on them. Normally a washcloth is soaked in water which is hot or warm. After the excess water is removed, the warm and moist washcloth is pressed on it. The washcloth is compressed on the blind pimple till it becomes cold. This process is repeated at frequent intervals and it will lead to the presence of head on the pimple without a head. Once the head is formed then it will drain out easily as time passes. Some skin types will not react to the above treatment and in such cases one can also try apple cider vinegar or tea tree oil. Some prefer to apply toothpaste but then with the use of toothpaste, there is a high probability that it will cause irritation of the skin.
Finally to avoid the outbreak, one should ensure that the skin is kept healthy and clean. One should regularly cleanse the face with water, preferably mild soapy and also ensure that the skin is kept clean from grease, dirt, oil etc. Water intake of 10-12 glasses a day will ensure that the toxins in ones body is flushed out. Adequate intake of water will also keep the skin adequately hydrated. A well balanced and a healthy diet will also help in the process.
In the end if nothing works it is advisable to consult a dermatologist for help.
I've dealt with blind pimples for many years. Nothing I've ever tried actually helped to do anything except make it worse. The only exception is if it's very large, irritated and red, and painful the hot compresses have helped to open the pores and soften the skin. This would allow me to bring it to almost a head and then use a sterilized needle to drain it. This ONLY worked when it was huge and very painful and obviously close to the skin. ALWAYS make sure your hands/nails are very, very clean. Also, as tempting as it is, DO NOT SQUEEZE IT! Even if you've gotten to the point of draining it, very gentle pressure far from the center is ALL you should do, at best. If you squeeze it to the center you will in fact get more puss evacuation, however, you will also be spreading that infections downward and outward and breaking skin cells and getting a larger mess and likely scar tissue. Once you've brought it to an initial puss evacuation let your skin do the rest, really, I cannot stress this enough. It will take a day or two, but you will see it will work on its own as long as you get lots of sleep and drink a ton of water.
1. Don't touch it, it will only aggravate it and become worse.
2. If it's painful leave it alone, you will only make is spread otherwise.
3. If it's VERY painful, huge, and near a head then hot compresses should help to soften it and eventually bring it to head.
4. If it is very close but just not working you can try a sterilized needle.
5. If it works only use minimal pressure from far edges, stop before you get close to center.
6. Leave alone, never pick at it.
Again, don't even mess with it unless it's very huge and very painful, otherwise you're only going to prolong it and make it worse. You might even get it to spread into a mega lot of blind pimples and have life long scarring.
Lastly, I don't know if it's just me or what, but when I get an infection of any kind I will chop up two cloves of garlic into four small pieces each, then with water I will swallow them. I do this twice daily. Yes, my sweat might stink a little if I don't use cologne, but it seems to clear my skin up in a day. Nothing topical has ever worked, only internal like ingesting garlic or taken some of the stronger antibiotics.
If it is really red and huge and you need photos or something you can always go to the derm and they can shoot it up to have the swelling go down. I once had a derm offer to give me some needles and serum, but they no longer seem to do that.
